FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:CURTIS SALGADO 2010 BMA SOUL BLUES MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR. CURTIS SALGADO HAS WON THE 2010 BLUES MUSIC AWARD FOR SOUL BLUES MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR.

The 31st Annual Blues Music Award Ceremony was presented at the Cook Convention Center on May 6, 2010 in Memphis, Tennessee. The star-studded event brought together Blues performers, industry representatives and fans from all over the world to celebrate the best in Blues recordings and performances from the previous year. Each year, the Blues Foundation presents The Blues Music Awards to the artists selected by the vote of its members. They are universally recognized as the highest honor given to Blues artists.

This year, the ceremony honored winners in 26 categories, presented by some of the most influential members of the blues community. Bonnie Raitt – an inductee in this year’s Blues Hall of Fame – presented Buddy Guy with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Also presenting at the ceremony was Koko Taylor’s daughter, Cookie Taylor, to present the renamed Koko Taylor Award (formerly Best Traditional Female Artist) to it’s first ever recipient Blues guitarist Debbie Davies, whose album Holdin’ Court was released last year.

The other nominees for 2010 Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year included Latimore, Johnny Rawls, Jackie Payne and Darrell Nulisch.

Salgado has been nominated six times, once in 2002 for Soul Blues Album of the Year and four nominations in 2009 including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Soul Blues Album of the Year and Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year.
